On The Road Again

Willie Nelson sings "I can't wait to get on the road again" and that's exactly how we're feeling.

We're down to just over two weeks till we blast off for another adventure and get to meet all of our friends in The Rio Grande Valley.  In the email we've been exchanging they all seem to be feeling about the same.  That cold North wind is blowing and it's time to let it push us South.

Summer has been great, we've been able to spend lots of time with all of our family and friends, had a couple of short trips, and met our "legal" requirement for time in our home Prov./state.  Bernie just got back from a few days in Langley B.C. with our daughter Colleen and her family.  I had a short motorcycle trip with sons Brady and Rob, we spent some time at Falcon Lake with daughter Leslie and her family, and daughter Amber was home from Calgary a couple of times.  Couldn't ask for more than that.

The short motorcycle trip with Brady and Rob was really fun.  The three of us all ride similarly but those young reflexes do make a difference.  I think the "old guy"s going to have to slow down but I'll fight it as long as I can.  Hopefully there will be lots of years to go slow, I need to take advantage of the "go fast" while I still can (sort of.)

The RV and truck are pretty well set to go.  We installed a generator on the back of the truck a couple of weeks ago.  Why?  Remember - "Happy Wife, Happy Life?"  Well a morning cup of Java and a hair dryer make my bride happy so a generator was a "no brainer."  She was happy to throw on a cap and go after a night on the road someplace but she'll be happier this way and consequently so will I.

I have to get a new safety on the truck next week to be sure it's safe and legal.  It should be pretty easy since it only travelled about 5 thousand miles since the last one.  Five thousand is hardly warmed up for out Freightliner.

We've been busy planning our trip and have pretty much left it as planned all summer.  We're still going to Indiana, Memphis, Nashville, New Orleans and then on to the Rio Grande Valley for about three months.  At the beginning of March we'll head N and West to Vancouver for the beginning of April.  No reservations made, no idea what RV Parks, just a good map, a compass pointing South, and each other.  That's plenty.

During the summer there isn't much to post here but I'll be back to regular posts once we get back "On The Road Again," with a big diesel purring, Willie Nelson on the radio and of course the CB blasting trash talk.  :-)  I had 40+ years of shirts and ties and do I ever miss it (not.)

Thanks for stopping by and please do leave a comment when you can.
