Can you get a Freightliner STUCK in a perfectly dry campground?

Yes you can and it's a bit embarrassing.

I managed to get our truck stuck in the RV park.  It's a long story, so we'll just leave it as "stuck for no reason," completely unable to move, "ROOKIE MISTAKE."

It was quite a quandary, with nothing available to tow it what were we to do?  I was thinking I needed a tractor or a big tow truck.  I turned to our RV club "Escapees" http://www.escapees.com/ where there are quite a few RV'rs using HD trucks.  They said there are two categories for this problem; those that have been there and those that will be there, it happens to everyone.  They suggested all I needed was a pickup truck to give it a tug.  I couldn't see a pickup truck being able to tow a 20,000 lb truck but we decided to give it a try.

Brady (son) with his F150 and hooked up.

Nothing To It

30 seconds later we were done.  I was amazed but that F150 yanked us out like nothing, didn't even grunt, didn't spin a wheel, nothing.  Brady said he barely felt it load up.

So once again, I was wrong, which seems to happen allot these days.  Must be an age thing :-)

Have a super day and please do leave a comment when you can.

  1. Hi Neal and Bernie,
Well, we have finally gotten to read all about your travels and it sounds like you are having a "ball"! We are so happy for you both. Yes, you have had a few ups and downs, but it makes it all the more memorable that way! We certainly look forward to seeing you soon, and November is just around the corner. Safe travels!
